Porsche 912 - cheaper 911 of those times

As we have Boxster today, and there was 924 in 1976, 912 replaced 356 model, and was cheaper and "smaller" version of rather expensive 911. From 1965 through 1969, Porsche's 912 eased the transition between the 356 and the 911. Porsche factory announced the 912 in early April 1965.  With the great aerodynamics, ergonomics, style, and quality of construction as a six-cylinder 911, the 912 had other advantages as well.  Fans of the 356 appreciated the similarities to that model; for example a proven 356-based flat four-cylinder fuel-efficient motor delivering 64 SAE horsepower/ liter from behind the rear axle .  With the flat-four, an early 912 weighs less than a standard 911 (960kg) of the same year, resulting in improved front-rear weight distribution.

antituning porsche 924"Luke - I am your father..." (c)(p)(r) etc. Better don't try this at home! Although both of presented cars manufacture quality is very good, the idea in general fails. Some parts can be considered as pretty nice, but the picture itself doesn't.

porscha 944-968 racingThat's the last rabbit from my 944 hat - 944 turbo, transformed to... Hard to say, really. Front fenders copied from 968, but headlights - custom, looks like Strosek. Front bumper - custom. Rear one - even more custom :) Waterdrop side mirrors, Strosek rear window replacement, but custom - roof line is lowered, side windows shaved. Custom rear spoiler used as well, Hella tail lights, big front mount intercooler, etc.

Porsche 944 vectis tuning - Daewoo Matiz headlights

Porsche with strange lightsThere is 944 with "round" 911 (996) headlight conversion below. Looks nice - almost like a "real" Porsche. This one custom 944 looks... Strange. Maybe it's because Daewoo matiz headlights, maybe because of Peugeot 406 tail lights... The only good thing about this car is that all tuning-parts are lightweight, and now this 944 is lighter than it was produced.

vw-t3 porscheIs it a plane? No! Is it a bullet? No! Is it ugly? Hmmm... Well, you can't say "ugly", if one have Porsche badge on it :) So this VW bus is anything but ugly. Fast, custom, adorable, one of-a-kind, wasted money - but it still IS. Why it's so interesting we have it on TheBestPorsche - see below.

Transforming Porsche 944 to Carrera GT

by porker  •  03 Mar : 11:06   email to someone  printer friendly
porsche-carrera-gtOne of the cheapest Porsche ou can buy - 944. The most expensive one - Porsche Carrera GT. You want to tune your 924-944. So why pretend 911 - go straight for Carrera GT look! What should be used? Fiberglass, PU-foam, mig-mag welder and imagination. We used Photoshop instead, to tune 944 to look little bit more Carrera GT :) And this can be done not only with PS - we did no major changes, that could not be made with existing tuning solutions, parts and/or welder.

Porsche 944 tuning - 911 look

by porker  •  03 Mar : 10:53   email to someone  printer friendly
Porsche 944-911Have a 944 turbo - nice car, perfect handling, weight balance - but everybody laughts "it's not a "real" Porsche". "Real" Porsche's has "normal" headlights, different body lines and if turbo - turbo wheels. So what to do? You still like your 944, but have to deal with public opinion. So you "upgrade" it to 911 (996) look!

silver porsche 924 tuning - corvette oldschool styleThere are two possible ways to tune Porsche 924 (well, 3 in fact) - to go oldschool, to tune to the new look (10 later 944 S2-S3 look) or to stay almost the same, only with small adjustments. See below what can be done with a little bit of imagination and some fiberglass ;)
